Reminder - elementary assessment days will take place on August 21 and August 24. During these assessments, just half of an elementary class will attend school. Reducing the class size will help teachers to manage a smaller number of students, complete these assessments in a timely manner, and reduce the impact on instruction. There will be no school for students on the day they are not taking part in the screenings.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday, August 21 - No School for Elementary Students Last Names A-K

Monday, August 24 - No School for Elementary Students Last Names L-Z

What a GREAT week it’s been at Scioto! 💙💛

Monday, we kicked off our year as ONE VALLEY with our opening staff ceremony, followed by a wonderful Open House. We know that we can’t pour from an empty cup, so we intentionally dedicated time during our staff meeting on Tuesday to Wisdom & Wellness—a day focused on taking care of ourselves so we can continue giving our very best to our students.

We were so grateful to partner with local small businesses Rogue Wellness and Raise the Bar Fitness & Nutrition for valuable insight and practical tools to support our health and well-being. 💛 Our day also included health tips and tricks from our Gifted Intervention Specialist, Mrs. Wasem, and a session on tools for tough days with Mental Health Specialist Bonnie Ryan and School Counselor Miss McCoy. A huge thank you to all for investing in our staff!
Our students deserve the very best versions of us, and we are committed to that journey. It was a day rooted in wellness, purpose, connection, and reigniting our mission as educators. ✨

Then, on Wednesday, we opened our doors to 800+ students! 🎉 It was such a joy to have our halls filled with smiling faces, energy, and excitement again. We were especially excited to open one of our newly renovated playgrounds for students to enjoy! Our other playground is still under construction, but we can’t wait for that one to be ready, too!

And while we absolutely loved welcoming everyone back… we miss our preschoolers and 5th graders!!!!! 🥹 It just hasn’t been the same without you, and we cannot wait to see you tomorrow!

Dear Scioto Families,

To ensure that our new modular classrooms are fully completed and thoughtfully prepared for students, all Scioto 5th grade students will begin the school year on Monday, August 17. This schedule change applies only to Scioto 5th grade students.

Our maintenance staff has worked diligently throughout the summer to prepare the modular classrooms. The final stages of the project require coordination with outside partners, and a few important items remain in progress. Electrical service is scheduled to be connected tomorrow, and work will continue over the coming days.

This additional time will allow our team to complete the remaining work and give our teachers the time they need to prepare safe, welcoming classrooms for students.

The 5th grade Open House is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, from 5:30–7 p.m. We look forward to welcoming our students and families, introducing them to their teachers, and helping them feel comfortable and excited for the year ahead.

The continued growth of our district brings exciting opportunities, and these new classrooms are an important investment in our students. We sincerely appreciate your patience, flexibility, and support as we complete this project.

We are excited to begin a wonderful school year!
