The Morris Recreation Center includes:
45-foot climbing wall, 3-lane jogging track, 4 racquetball courts, 2 basketball courts, large fitness area with cardiovascular and weight equipment, group fitness room, classroom, snack area, and locker rooms. The outdoor area includes:
Heated leisure pool (beach-type entry, fountains, water tunnel, current channel, bubble jet benches, 3-lap lanes), 2-tier hot tub with waterfall, 2 basketball courts, covered pavilion, shaded areas, and picnic tables

Please join us in welcoming our new Graduate Assistant of Sport Programs, John Seaman!

John was born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Allen, Texas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Sport Management, and is now pursuing his Master of Science in Sport Management here at East Texas A&M University. During his time at the University of Arkansas, he worked for two years as an Event Operations Assistant for Arkansas Athletics, where he gained experience working in collegiate athletics and event operations. He is super excited to be joining East Texas A&M as a GA for Sport Programs and is eager to support students and contribute to Intramural Sports and other Campus Recreation programs. He enjoy playing sports, participating in pickup sports, watching sports, going to the gym, spending time outdoors, and working on his cars. John is looking forward to getting involved, meeting students and staff, and helping create a fun and positive experience through Campus Recreation!

Please join us in welcoming our new Outdoor Adventure Coordinator, Chance Watley!

Chance earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He then went on to pursue a Master’s in Human Sciences focusing on outdoor recreation from Southern Illinois University. During his master’s he was a graduate assistant at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center, the university’s outdoor center, where he was able to work rock climbing, canoeing, team building, and high ropes programs. While working for TON, he also got experience with facilities and maintenance focusing on trail and building maintenance. These experiences informed his love for adventure and the outdoors leading him to pursue adventure specific jobs.

In his free time Chance enjoys swimming, rock climbing, reading, and playing video games with friends. He also enjoys playing in the occasional pit orchestra for musicals.

Please join us in welcoming our new Graduate Assistant of Facility Operations and Member Services, Emily Dick!

Emily supports the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and Aquatics with the oversight of approximately 60 operations employees. Responsibilities include program and staff supervision through hiring, training and evaluation, budget preparation and management, in-service training and facility inspections, equipment management, special event programming, membership sales, program promotions, risk management and policy development. The role provides opportunities for leadership development, program management and overall hands-on experience in facility and staff management.

Emily was born and raised in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and is now getting her Master of Science in Nutrition. She has worked in Campus Recreation all of undergrad in a variety of positions: starting as a Marketing Assistant then Head Lifeguard, and then moved on as Outdoor Adventure Staff and a Building Supervisor. This October she will have worked with Campus Recreation for 4 years. She is super excited to be working in a position where she can support the staff she has worked with for many years now! She loves staying active however she can, taking care of her plants, baking and playing board games with friends.

🎉 Today is the day! 🎉

Join us as we celebrate the MRC Expansion Grand Opening with faculty, staff, and the community from 4:00-5:30 p.m. and get a first look at the newly expanded space! We kindly ask that guests refrain from using the fitness equipment, climbing wall, or pool during this time.

Then, the excitement continues as the MRC reopens at 6:30 p.m. for our student-only celebration, RecFest! 🏀🎮🤸
