Building a defense against a quantum threat that doesn't even exist yet? That's the kind of research faculty can produce.
Dr. Ahmet Kurt, an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, joined with colleagues at other institutions to develop what they say is the first post-quantum design, implementation and evaluation for the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
