Our K-2nd graders have been learning each component of Salah explicitly every day and each Jummah we have them building stamina and learning the routine of what it will feel like once they join the older kids. Our “Mini Imams,” practice public speaking skills by delivering the Khutbah and leading the prayer.

Our Deen Doers for this week.

Every homeroom teacher picks one student and writes down what they actually did. This week that included rolling up loose headphone wires so nobody would trip over them, telling a group of classmates to cut it out when they were talking about someone behind their back, and walking a little brother to class every morning with a hug at the door.

This month we’ve moved on to tawāḍuʿ — humility. It’s harder than it sounds. It doesn’t mean thinking you’re not good at things. It means not needing to be above anybody. So we’re watching for the kids who share credit, who can admit they don’t know something, who help when nobody’s looking.

Congratulations to all fourteen.

What does love look like in a Muslim home? 🤍

How did the Prophet ﷺ love? How did he navigate conflict? How did he ﷺ build a strong family, and what can we take from his example into our own marriages and homes?

This Saturday, Shaykh Yaser Birjas joins us for an all new AlMaghrib IlmNight: And From His Signs, a Marriage & Family Life Workshop.

In one evening:
• The keys to maintaining healthy romance
• Navigating marital discord
• Love stories from the life of the Prophet ﷺ
• The art of raising children

Whenever one of our Hifz students memorizes a Juz, their name is added to the Juz they finish on this hallway display. Mashallah we have one student on Juz 17 and others are close behind.

Our first Deen Doers of the Week. A Deen Doer is exactly that - someone who has done something that represents our Deen.

Every Friday, one student from each homeroom K-6 gets picked for something they actually did that their teacher noticed. This month we’re working on husn al-khuluq, beautiful character, and one way that shows up day to day is adab — manners and respect.

This past week that looked like a kindergartener who now says salaam every morning, a third grader who straightens everyone’s shoes before salah, and a first grader who shared her artwork so a friend wouldn’t be left out of the class picture.

Congratulations to all fourteen Deen Doers of the Week! They get to keep a plaque on their desk with their name on it all week long and their names will go on a school wide bulletin board for the whole year.

Did you know a soap bubble and your cell membrane have more in common than you think? 🧫 Our AP Bio students used bubbles to explore 6 key membrane properties: from fluid movement to binary fission. Science that actually makes sense.

Knew hoarding the Taco Bell sauce packets would come in handy one day.

After learning about declarative, interrogative , imperative, and explanatory sentences, these students had to figure out what type of sentence was on the sauce packets.
