LAST CALL FOR REGISTRATION!

Classes begin next week!

Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism (NSSA) is once again offering our 8-week workshop for parents and family members of children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The workshop provides valuable information, including an introduction to the principles and science of ABA, to help parents and family members better understand autism, navigate its challenges, and learn strategies to support their child’s individual needs.

Thursdays, October 15 – December 10, 2026
7:00–9:00 PM

Please note: There will be no class on November 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

NSSA is grateful to the Autism Coalition of Long Island for their generous grant supporting new seating for NSSA’s Adult Services program. Their contribution allowed us to replace and expand seating throughout our program, where participants take part in activities and lessons that provide lifelong learning and support skill development, independence, socialization, and more.

This morning, members of NSSA, along with some of our Adult Services participants, were proud to attend the 31st Annual Legislative Breakfast hosted by the Long Island Family Support Services Advisory Council (LIFSSAC). Advocates, families, local legislators, and NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities policymakers came together to discuss the critical importance of Medicaid funding for individuals with disabilities and the urgent need to maintain access to the services and supports they rely upon.

We were given space to provide information about NSSA’s programs and services, and attendees had the opportunity to purchase NSSA Embracelets. Thank you to the organizers for this opportunity, and for bringing together so many members of the disability services community for this important conversation.

The message this morning was clear: “We are not optional. Keep our OPWDD services strong.”

Last week, the Long Island autism and special needs community came together for NSSA’s A Special Night for Our Special Kids at Adventureland, and what a night it was! From rides and smiles to time spent together with family and friends, the park was filled with so much joy, laughter, and excitement. 🎢💙

A huge thank you to Adventureland Long Island for more than two decades of support and for helping us create this special evening for our families year after year. We are so grateful for this incredible partnership!

And the best part? We’ll be back in the spring! 💙
