Welcome to our new 3rd grade teacher!

I am Brooke Plant, and I’m so excited to be joining the Burchfield Primary community this year! I am from Meridian and am so excited to be teaching close to home in Colusa.
I’m a proud mom of two wonderful boys—one is in 8th grade and the other is a sophomore in high school.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Child Development, as well as my teaching credential, from CSU, Chico. I have 15 years of teaching experience, working with students from preschool through 4th grade. My love for teaching started early in life and has grown into my true passion. I truly believe that teaching is what I was born to do.

As a teacher, I believe students may forget what you said, but they’ll never forget the way you make them feel. My goal is to create a classroom where every child feels welcomed, valued, supported, and excited to learn.

I look forward to sharing my love of teaching with the students and families of Burchfield Primary. I can’t wait to meet everyone and have a wonderful school year!

Welcome our new 1st Grade teacher Sienna Steidlmayer.

Hi! My name is Mrs. Steidlmayer and I’m so excited to be joining Burchfield’s first grade team! This will be my fifth year teaching, and I love helping young learners build confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. Reading is my absolute favorite subject to teach, and I love helping students discover a love for books and build confidence as readers. In my classroom, you’ll find lots of hands-on learning, collaboration, and engaging activities that make learning exciting! When I’m not at school, I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time in the mountains. I am so excited to meet all of my amazing students and families and can’t wait for a fantastic year together!

Hello! My name is Heather Wilson-Jensen, and I am pleased to be able to serve the students, families, and staff of Colusa Unified School District as your School Nurse. I look forward to getting to know all our students and families throughout the school year! I can be found primarily at James M. Burchfield Primary School and am working with all the schools in the district.

I am excited to bring my passion for learning and teaching, my experience working with children and families in both hospital and community settings, and my commitment to empowering families to CUSD. When I am not working I am a voracious reader who loves to be with family, spend time outdoors, and learn new hobbies. My husband and I have two children Max & Ruby (and no, we did not mean to name them after the cartoon bunnies!), two cats (Frankie & Giraffe) and a dog (Cleo).

I believe that by working together, we can create a supportive environment where every child’s health, safety, and well-being are prioritized to give them the best opportunity to thrive in school and beyond. I am grateful to be part of our community as your School Nurse and look forward to partnering with you to support our students!
