The Interact Theatre Project

The Interact Theatre Project A collaborative project co–sponsored by the Department of Theatre and the University Institute for Teaching & Learning at The Ohio State University.

The InterACT Theatre Project for Social Change is a collaborative project co–sponsored by the Department of Theatre and the University Center for the Advancement of Teaching at The Ohio State University. InterACT has received awards in recognition of the project's contribution to the Ohio State community:

- The program received a 2007 Multicultural Center Diversity Award.
- In 2008, InterACT won

an award from Ohio State's Office of University Outreach & Engagement. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events––and look forward to hearing from parties interested in working with us to help stimulate conversations about issues of diversity and inclusion, particularly in regard to teaching and learning environments. InterACT events are presented through the collective efforts of a diverse mix of undergraduate theatre students, who create and perform dramas that highlight hot–button social issues. Each student has enrolled in a service–learning theatre course, offered every quarter throughout Ohio State's academic year. The course is designed to hone students' live performance skills, while at the same time engaging students in dialogue about issues of social justice. Among its outreach efforts, the InterACT theatrical troupe has worked with Ohio State's Multicultural Center, GLBT Student Services, Office of Minority Affairs, Todd A. Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male, Office of International Affairs, and College of Pharmacy. Additionally, InterACT has presented interactive events for Ohio State's Undergraduate Admissions and First–Year Experience, Student Wellness Center, College of Dentistry, College of Optometry, College of Nursing, Office for Disability Services, and the Institute for Human Services. InterACT is really proud to promote two performance dates for the new play, IF A TREE FALLS, written by InterACT alum, Abby Noel and directed by InterACT alum, Chris Ray and Abby Noel.

In collaboration with students from the Academy of Performing Arts, Whetstone High School and the Department of Theatre’s Opioid Project, support for this pilot project comes from donors who support work in Columbus schools specifically focused on Ohio’s opioid crisis.
