What a fun week at Taylor Farm Park with the 5th grade this week. Thanks to Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District, Mark Berman the Bug Man, Molly Scott, Charles Schumacher, and Howard Burack for all their help making a successful week!
And thanks to Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Scioto Gardens for supporting the high school environmental club with our spring planting project. We planted 50 native trees and bushes at the E3 wetland.

It was a busy Earth Week! 4th graders planted trees in Swickard Woods with our city forester Will King and the New Albany, Ohio Government. We cleaned up trash with the girl scouts, learned about solar energy with the first graders, and built shelters in the woods with Adventure Eagles and Healthy New Albany. What a fun week celebrating our planet!
A Chladni plate creates patterns with sand caused by standing sound waves at specific frequencies. A fun way to review how sound works with 5th grade this week. And how about these zip line vehicles from the STEM club?

How about these cool fan carts for fifth grade force and motion? Also Wind powered cars for STEM club, and the environmental club does battle again with invasive honeysuckle. Next step, replant our wetland with native trees and shrubs funded by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium!

What a week! Giant map of Ohio, rocks and soil, owl pellets, cold frame gardens, and wall marble runs. My back still hurts from shoveling all the snow off of those cold frame gardens, but it will be worth it when we have yummy veggies this spring!

The giant map of Ohio, solar energy and static electricity, rocks and minerals, and high school environmental club finishing their bird boxes and reusable grocery bags. a little cold weather didn’t slow down the fun and learning!
Love this first grade scientific thinking about the states of matter!

Fourth graders built landforms from sand, then destroyed them with weathering and erosion this week. Our very artistic high school environmental club members decorated reusable grocery bags and second graders made clouds in jars. It was cold outside, but we had a lot of fun science time inside!
