We take great pride in preparing the next generation of leaders. Individuals are also evaluated for hearing loss, auditory processing disorders and tinnitus.

At The Ohio State University, our department is dedicated to advancing the study of human
communication through innovative research, clinical education, and community
engagement. The Clinic professionals perform assessments and intervention for individuals with speech and hearing disorders. Diagnostic testing and treatment for articulation, language, literacy, fluency and memory are administered. The fitting of hearing aids and assistive listening devises is also performed through the Clinic.

Many of our clinic patients joined the webinar and there were people with tinnitus and professionals world wide that participated. If you missed it, here is the link to view the webinar...it's free and the feedback regarding the information was very positive.

Our educational opportunities for students are rooted in service, and OSU BrainCARE is one shining example. By fostering connection and community after brain injury, BrainCARE creates meaningful experiences for both participants and students. Glad to see they’re off to a great summer!

Doctor of Audiology students at Ohio State were again invited to provide Clinical Grand Rounds for AudiologyOnline. Each year, students are challenged to bring forth cases to educate audiologists and encourage critical thinking in unique patient presentations. This year’s session did not disappoint! Cases were presented today by Liam Smyth, who recently finished the AuD program, Madison Po***ck, current 4th year, and third year students, Emma Canino, Dana Hamed, and Jaelyn Jaquay, with the session moderated by Dr. Whitelaw. Amazing cases that were well received. If you missed today’s presentation, you can see it at your convenience at AudiologyOnline!

Proud to announce that Kiersten Spires, a 4th year AuD student in our Department, received the Graduate Scholarship from Ohio School Speech Pathology and Educational Audiology Coalition (OSSPEAC) (see the announcement below). Kiersten is an exceptional student and clinician and is already a leader in our profession. Congratulations Kiersten for consistently representing yourself, our program, and Ohio State so well.
·
🎉 Meet Kiersten Spires — our 2026 OSSPEAC Graduate Scholarship winner! 🎉
Out of 17 incredible applicants, Kiersten stood out. She's a third-year Doctor of Audiology student at The Ohio State University and a LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) trainee. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Miami University with a minor in Disability Studies.
What she cares about: supporting school-aged children in rural Ohio, and improving access to consistent, high-quality hearing healthcare in school systems where resources are often stretched thin.
This is the future of educational audiology in Ohio, and we couldn't be prouder to support her work.
Join us in congratulating her.
