📣 Tuesday Blurb Roundup – September 1

Busy week ahead, WK Band families! Here's everything you need to know:

🏈 Football @ Canal Wi******er – Friday, Sept 4
Report time is 4:30 PM, on the field, dressed in summer uniform (including marching band shoes) and ready to rehearse. Instruments get dropped off by the semi and stacked in sections BEFORE report time. Bring duffles, music, water jugs, all summer uniform parts, and money for concessions. No cookies needed, this is a home game!

Marching band pictures will be handed out after tonight's rehearsal. If your family ordered, make sure your student picks theirs up. Anything left behind gets stored in the band room and becomes the student's responsibility to retrieve.

🎉 Back-to-School Bingo was a smash hit
Record attendance, record pre-sales, and a huge thank you to every volunteer, donor, and family who made it happen. Bingo funds support the entire band program, so this one made a real impact!

🥫 Canned Food Drive – Battle of Hard Road
It's on against Dublin Scioto! Bring canned goods, packaged food, feminine hygiene products, and pantry staples like cereal, toothpaste, shampoo, and body wash to Aadyn Criss or Elsa Gorrell. Donation deadline is Thursday, September 17. Top three student donors get to pie Aadyn, Elsa, or Mr. Brough in the face. Let's beat Scioto and stock the Worthington Resource Pantry!

🎉 WK Marching Band Update! 🎉

TAG DAY RECAP: What a day! Our students, parent drivers, and organizers pulled off a record-setting Tag Day, bringing in more than $22,000 for the band program! Our seniors also crushed it at the Car Wash, raising over $1,100 in cash plus several hundred more online. Thank you to everyone who showed up and gave their time. 🙌

🏈 SCHEDULE CHANGE: Friday, August 21 vs. Watkins Memorial has been switched to a HOME game! Come support the band and the team.

💰 PAYMENT REMINDER: Please double-check that all 5 Marching Band payments have been made. Log into your fee account to confirm.

🎺 WK Marching Band Weekly Roundup 🎺

📣 Tag Day is THIS SATURDAY, August 8!
Report time is 9:00 AM. Wear summer uniform and any athletic/tennis shoes (marching shoes not required), and bring your water jug. Pizza's provided for lunch, but pack your own if you've got dietary restrictions. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, typically bringing in over $20,000 for the band program, so let's make it a great one! Student groups and vehicle assignments are posted in the band hallway.

🎺 Worthington Kilbourne Marching Band Update! 🎺

What a week! Band camp students have put 25 pages of drill on the field and the 2026 show is really starting to take shape. Today is the final full day of camp, wrapping up tomorrow at 4:30pm right before we celebrate with our End of Camp Pool Party!

🏊 POOL PARTY — Friday, 7/24, 7-9pm at Worthington Pool Natatorium. FREE for all band members! Pizza, a DJ, and a great way to unwind after a great week. All students need a signed waiver on file to attend (scan the QR Code below and sign-up as a non-member for the waiver).

🚪 TAG DAY — One of our biggest fundraisers of the year, typically raising over $20,000 for the program! Students should sign up in groups of four by this Friday, and we still need about 8 more volunteer drivers.

📸 PICTURE DAY — Tuesday, August 4. Section times coming next week, but families can pre-order now for the best pricing and free shipping. Seniors get an extra perk this year: a $25 discount, plus Ralph Photo Studio donates another $25 back to WKMB!

🥁 AKRON DCI TRIP — Monday, 8/3. Parents are welcome to join! Ticket deadline is Monday, 7/27, so don't wait. Email us if you're interested in chaperoning.

📅 Also on the calendar: Post-Camp rehearsals 7/27, 7/29, and 7/30 from 5:30-9pm (no rehearsal 7/28), and Marching Band Payment #5 is due August 1.

Hey everyone! 🎺🥁

Our students had a fantastic first day of band camp! We were seriously impressed with their work ethic, focus, and everything they accomplished today. Excited for the rest of the week! 🎶

🚗 A quick note about end-of-rehearsal pickup:

This is our first camp using the new traffic pattern after construction, so we're making adjustments as we learn what works best.

For student safety, the inside lanes closest to the practice field stay closed during rehearsal. About 10 minutes after rehearsal ends, we'll pull the cones once equipment is packed up and cleared.

Of the three lanes closest to the school:
🟡 Yellow curb lane = parking/loading lane
🚦 Middle and left lanes = need to stay open for moving traffic

Please do NOT stop in the middle or left lanes to pick up your student. It backs up traffic at the entrance fast and creates congestion for everyone.

✅ Good news: we now have two fully open parking lots on the east and west sides of the practice field! We strongly encourage parents to wait there. Once your student reaches your vehicle, you can use the middle and left lanes to exit smoothly.
In short: Please don't park or stop in the middle or left travel lanes closest to the school. Using the parking lots keeps traffic moving and makes pickup easier for everyone. 🙏
