4th and 5th grade students went on a field trip to the Ohio Statehouse. Not only did they get to learn about the history of the historic building, but they also had a chance to meet with House Representative Dontavius Jarrells from District 1. While touring the Statehouse, we got an impromptu tour of the Governors office, and were actually surprised by Governor Mike DeWine as well!

After studying the culture, history, and geography of Egypt, the 6th grade students created the Sands of Time Egyptian Museum to present what the had learned. They invited their 1st grade buddies to an interactive tour of the museum where they were treated to presentations about the Great Sphinx, the Giza Pyramids, and facts about the most important Pharaohs who ruled Egypt. They visited displays showing Egyptian jewelry and learned about mummies and how they were prepared for burial. They learned how to draw people and animals using Egyptian frontals art style and painted their names on cartouches in hieroglyphic letters! It was a great display of authentic learning at its finest!

We are so very blessed to have Father Andrew with us, even for only a couple more months! His ability to connect with every teacher and student is an absolute gift from God! We are so blessed to have him with us and guiding our children!

Here we go with yet another authentic learning experience…collecting bottle caps all year long doesn’t just teach students about recycling and reusing and what’s good for the environment. It’s also a lesson in caring for God’s creation! Our 5th graders have been collecting bottle caps all year long, knowing they were going to create a masterpiece! They will be using these caps and other recycled material to create an image of St. Christopher that will live in our Marian garden space!
