At Mary A. Buckner Academy, we know that EVERY DAY COUNTS! 💙❤️

When our Panthers are at school every day and on time, they have more opportunities to learn, grow, build friendships, and succeed! Every lesson matters, every moment matters, and most importantly—every student matters! 🌟

Families, thank you for partnering with us to make regular attendance a priority. Together, we can help our scholars build strong habits today that will lead to success tomorrow.

To celebrate and kick-off Attendance Awareness Month on September 1st, Mrs. Sullivan-Echols and Mrs. Staples invited Georgia House of Representative Teddy Reese, Mrs. Sconiers, Mrs. Forte, and Attorney Dowdell to visit and read, "The Kissing Hand by: Audrey Penn, to our 1st grade students. A book for each 1st grade student was also donated by Representative Teddy Reese.

Thank you to all of our visitors for showing our MBA students that attendance and reading is important. Let’s make September a month of Panther Pride and GREAT attendance! 🐾

Football season is approaching and at MBA we would like to kick off football season by representing our favorite college or NFL team on Friday, August 28th. All faculty, staff, and students will be able to wear blue jeans with their favorite college/NFL team t-shirt or jersey. If your child participates, he or she must follow the guidelines below.

1) Your child will only be allowed to wear blue jeans if he or she wears a college/NFL t-shirt or jersey.

2) Blue jeans cannot have holes, tears, or freys.

3) No slides, crocs, or cleats can be worn.

*The homeroom with the most participation will win a special prize from Ms. Hamilton. Remember, to earn a point for their homeroom, the t-shirt or jersey must represent a college or NFL team.

The 26-27 school year is off to a great start. On behalf of the MBA faculty and staff, we would like to invite you to our first two family events.

Friday, September 11th - Grandparent's Day. Join your grandchild (ren) for breakfast to celebrate the role you play in their lives. The deadline to sign up to attend is Friday, August 28th.

Tuesday, September 15th - Open House for Pre-Kindergarten - 2nd grade students. Please come and meet your child's teacher.

Thursday, September 17th - Open House for 3rd - 5th grade students. Please come and meet your child's teacher.

Thank you for a great first two weeks of school and ensuring that your child is on time to school and ready to learn each day.

We are super excited to share our first Mary A. Buckner Academy Family Newsletter for the 26-27 school year. The MBA Family Newsletter will be shared every Friday to keep our families informed of upcoming events, important news, and highlights of the school. The newsletter will be posted to Class Dojo, the Mary A. Buckner Academy page, and the school's website.

The first day of school for all students is tomorrow, August 3rd. Only parents of Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students will be able to walk their child to class in the morning. If you would like to walk your child into their class, we ask that you please follow school procedures and guidelines for a smooth transition into the school and classroom.

1. We are asking parents to walk your child in during the following times. Please make sure you come at that time so we can make sure we have parking spaces available.

Pre- K - 7:00 a.m.
Kindergarten – 7:30 a.m.
1st grade – 8:00 a.m.
2nd grade – 8:00 a.m.

2. All cars will need to enter through the 2nd driveway of the school located next to the brick Marquee.

3. Once in the driveway of the school, please park in the faculty and staff parking lot located at the back of the school by the playgrounds.

4. After all students are in class, teachers will take all students to the cafeteria for breakfast so they can eat as a class.

5. Students must be in uniform for school every day, including Fridays.

Remember, if you did not come to the school to complete registration forms and verify that your child will be attending Mary A. Buckner Academy during verification he or she cannot start school tomorrow, Monday, August 3rd. We will not register/verify any students tomorrow due to faculty and staff working with students. The next verification day will be Tuesday, August 4th. Times for verification will be posted on the Mary A. Buckner Academy page. Lastly, if your child is a care rider please read the dismissal procedures that was given to each parent on verification day. Those procedures are also on the school's website, Facebook, and Class Dojo page.

MBA Parents,

You don’t want to miss our three events that we will be hosting tomorrow, July 28th.

Event #1: Verification Day for all parents to verify students if you did not verify your child during one of our Early Verification Sessions in June or July. Verification times have changed to 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Parents, you must verify your child tomorrow in order for he or she to attend the first day of school which is Monday, August 3rd. If you do not verify your child, he or she cannot attend school on the first day.

Event #2: If you verified your child in June and July, you and your child will be able to visit the teacher’s classroom and drop off school supplies from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. But remember parents, you must have your Early Verification Ticket to attend.

Event #3: We will have a Back-to-School Extravaganza from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Our community partners will be giving away bookbags, uniforms, and other supplies.

For tomorrow’s events, we ask all parents and/or guardians to enter the school using the second entrance located by the school’s marquee. Once you enter the driveway, you will park in the faculty/staff parking lot located by the gymnasium and playgrounds.

As we begin to kick another great school year, we are kicking off our 2026-2027 Attendance Awareness series by helping families plan ahead! Take a look at our major school breaks and holidays so you can schedule vacations and appointments during these extended breaks whenever possible.

When students are in school, they learn more, achieve more, and stay connected. If they are not present, we miss your child's smiling faces.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT MBA PARENTS...

The deadline to register for school bus transportation is 10 DAYS AWAY.

To ensure your child will recieve bus transportation the first day of school, you must complete the online bus transportation registration by July 15, 2026.

PLEASE NOTE: Your child’s online school registration must be completed before you can submit a bus transportation request. Again, if your child is not registered for bus transportation by the July 15th deadline he or she will not have transportation services available on the first day of school.

Good Afternoon MBA Parents,

We are super excited to offer Early Verification again on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. This will allow you to skip those long lines on the district's verification day (July 29th).

In order to attend an Early Verification Day Session, you must have your Online Registration complete with all documents uploaded and all forms signed. Also, we ask that you bring the following: 1) your Online Registration number and 2) your photo identification.
Lastly, we ask all parents and/or guardians enter the school using the second entrance located by the school’s marquee. Once you enter the driveway, you will park in the faculty/staff parking lot located by the gymnasium and playgrounds.
