On Friday, our students had the opportunity to meet their Mass Buddies and begin creating their Pinwheels for Peace!

The students will place their beautiful pinwheels throughout the school in celebration of International Peace Day in a couple of weeks.

In Montessori education, mentorship and connection are such an important part of the learning experience. Older and younger students have the opportunity to learn from one another, build meaningful relationships, and grow together. These moments help foster confidence, leadership, empathy, and a true sense of community.

Celebrating the life and legacy of Maria Montessori across SJMS!

Yesterday, our classrooms honored Maria Montessori’s birthday in so many meaningful and hands-on ways. Our Children’s House classes had a celebration of life, explored her timeline, and even heard firsthand stories from a teacher who visited Maria Montessori's first classroom in Rome.

In one of our Toddler classrooms, students put their practical life skills to work by making a birthday cake, a sweet way to celebrate the woman who inspired the work we do every day!

Happy Birthday to Maria Montessori!

Today, we celebrate the visionary whose belief in the potential of every child continues to inspire Montessori classrooms around the world. We’re proud to carry on her legacy every day at SJMS. Fun fact: Did you know Maria Montessori made history by becoming one of the first women in Italy to graduate in medicine in 1896?

We’ll be sharing a glimpse of the birthday celebrations happening across our classrooms tomorrow!

We’re excited to welcome Rui to SJMS! Rui recently earned a Master of Education from OSU and chose SJMS because of her passion for the Montessori method and its focus on student growth, character, and independence.

Outside of school, Rui enjoys rock climbing, abstract art, and spending time with her two bunnies, Beef and Leche.

What a night! Last night’s kickoff was full of excitement as we got to show off our incredible new atrium space and research library. We can’t wait to fill these spaces with learning, connection, and memories. Tomorrow, it all begins!

We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Gulzar Babool from back for another year of wonderful professional development focused on executive function! Our teachers had the opportunity to dive deeper into how executive function impacts learning and development, including a hands-on workshop where they explored executive function through the lens of the materials and activities in their own classrooms. We’re grateful for the opportunity to keep learning and growing together!
