A WORLD CLASS UNIVERSITY...HERE AT HOME
The Purdue Polytechnic Statewide System was created to extend Purdue University’s existing technology programs across the state to help meet Indiana's need for trained technologists and technicians. The statewide system represents a direct academic and administrative extension of the Polytechnic Institute at the West Lafayette campus. The same quality education that is offered on the Purdue University Campus in West Lafayette is available here in the Columbus area.

Stop #9 of our “We Are Here” campaign took us to Manufacturing Day 2026! 🏭⚙️

Purdue Polytechnic Columbus was excited to connect with local high school students and give them the opportunity to experience engineering and manufacturing through hands-on activities.

Students explored both our Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) programs by participating in vacuum forming and circuit-building activities. These experiences gave students a glimpse into the applied, hands-on learning that takes place at Purdue Polytechnic Columbus.

Manufacturing Day is about more than showcasing technology—it is about inspiring the next generation, introducing students to career opportunities, and helping build the future workforce of our region.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success and to all of the students who stopped by to learn, build, ask questions, and explore!

Purdue Polytechnic Institute – Columbus is proud to celebrate Dr. Nancy Lollar for sharing the campus’s Community-Embedded Engineering Leadership Model with the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators (NABCA).

As the recipient of NABCA’s 2026 Dr. George Giacumakis Innovation Award, Dr. Lollar highlighted how Purdue Columbus is redefining what it means for a campus to belong to its community by intentionally connecting curriculum, industry, families, clinicians, and community partners.

Through experiences such as GoBabyGo, first-year students apply engineering concepts to meaningful, real-world challenges while developing technical skills, empathy, leadership, communication, and accountability.

This work reflects the heart of Purdue Polytechnic: learning by doing, building strong community and industry partnerships, and preparing students to make an impact from day one.

We are proud of Dr. Lollar and of the students, faculty, staff, and partners who continue to make this work possible.

We’re excited to launch our Go Baby Go (GBG) project this fall at Purdue Polytechnic Columbus! 💛🖤

Through this hands-on project, our students will apply their engineering and technical skills to modify ride-on vehicles and mobility equipment to help create greater independence and opportunities for children in our community. It’s a powerful way to connect student learning, engineering innovation, and community impact.

We’re also looking for technical advisors and mentors from industry and the community to work alongside our students. If you have experience in areas such as mechanical design, electrical systems, fabrication, manufacturing, controls, troubleshooting, or related technical fields, we would love to have you involved.

Your experience can help guide students as they design, build, problem-solve, and turn their ideas into solutions that make a real difference.

Interested in serving as a GBG Technical Advisor or Mentor? Please reach out to us at [email protected] to learn how you can get involved.
