The Ohio State University’s Board of Trustees has voted to finalize the promotions for two incredible faculty in the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership. Please join us in congratulating:

Dr. Caryn Filson on her promotion to the rank of Professor of Practice. Dr. Filson’s primary focus is Agriscience Education and she serves as our Undergraduate Ag Ed Program Leader. A key member of the ACEL team, Caryn also is a recognized leader in teaching excellence at Ohio State as a lifetime member of The Ohio State University Academy Teaching.

Dr. Mary Rodriguez on her promotion to the rank of Professor. Dr. Rodriguez recently accepted the role as Director of Graduate Studies in the ACEL Department and is an internationally recognized leader as past president and fellow of AIAEE as well as past journal editor. She was recognized in 2024 as an Ohio State University Provost’s Midcareer Scholar in the Scarlet and Gray Associate Professor Program and receive the USDA Early Career Educator Award in 2022 as well as a Fullbright Scholarship in 2024/25.

Congratulations to Matthew Gold and Dr. Emily Buck! Their poster, Learn It, Watch It, Do It: Exploring Video Editing Skills Through Guided Media Critique, was recognized as a Top 10 Innovative Poster at the 2026 AAAE National Conference. It also received 2nd place in the People's Choice Awards!
