Today, students from Hamilton Intermediate had the opportunity to visit one of Hamilton Township Fire Department’s stations, spend time with local first responders and get some hands-on experience with the people who serve our community every day.

On September 11, we are especially grateful for the opportunity to connect our students with the men and women who protect and serve our communities.

We look forward to seeing our Ranger community tonight at HTHS for Military & First Responder Appreciation Night as we take on Chillicothe.

Recognitions begin at 6:30 p.m. We hope to see you there.

Hamilton Local Schools wants to thank JT Designs and the local businesses who are helping support our Hamilton Township High School athletic and extracurricular programs in a pretty fun way.

JT Designs has created an exclusive Hamilton Township Rangers Super Fan T-shirt, and you can only get one by catching it at a home varsity football game.

At each home game, our cheerleaders will be throwing out 25 shirts into the stands, giving fans the chance to catch one and take home a shirt you won't find anywhere else. Even better, 100% of the proceeds from the sponsoring businesses are being donated back to the HTHS Cheer, Football and Band programs.

As we move further into the school year, we want to remind students and families about the importance of responsible social media use and our shared responsibility to “See Something, Say Something.”

Schools across the country continue to encounter social media activity involving anonymous accounts and posts that reference or threaten students. While some of these posts may be part of online trends or may ultimately be determined not to represent a credible threat, we will not dismiss or minimize them. Every reported threat is taken seriously and addressed appropriately.

Hamilton Local Schools will firmly address anyone who uses social media to threaten, intimidate, harass, or disrupt our schools.

Students should not assume that a fake account, anonymous username, deleted post, or private message makes them untraceable. It does not. When necessary, we will work with law enforcement and utilize the significant investigative resources available to identify those responsible. Those who engage in this behavior can face serious school disciplinary consequences and, when appropriate, legal consequences.

We encourage families to talk with their children about these expectations:

• Do not participate in threatening social media trends.
• Do not create, post, comment on, share, or amplify threatening content.
• If you see something concerning, report it to a trusted adult, school administrator, or law enforcement.
• Save screenshots or other information that may assist with an investigation.
• Do not assume something is “just a joke.” Allow school officials and law enforcement to determine how a report should be handled.

Our students deserve to come to school feeling safe and supported. We will continue to take these matters seriously and respond decisively when behavior threatens or disrupts our school community.

Last night, we celebrated another outstanding evening at the Hamilton Township Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner, recognizing the accomplishments and lasting contributions of three exceptional alumni, as well as one of the most dedicated members of our school community.

Congratulations to our 2026 Hall of Fame Inductees:

Joshua Clark, Class of 1996 – Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Track & Field
Joshua was a dedicated multi-sport athlete during his time at Hamilton Township High School, earning three varsity letters in football and four in track and field. During his senior year, he earned All-League and All-District honors in both football and track and field and was a state placer in the 300-meter hurdles. He continued his football career at the University of Dayton, where he was a three-year letter recipient as a wide receiver.

Jeffrey Newsome, Class of 1996 – Football, Wrestling, Track & Field
Jeff was a standout multi-sport athlete who earned multiple varsity letters in football, wrestling, and track and field. As a wrestler, he was a two-time 189-pound Mid-State League champion, earning First Team MSL honors both years, and went on to become a sectional champion and district qualifier. He placed sixth at the district tournament his senior year. In track and field, Jeff set a school record in the discus with a throw of 159 feet, 1 inch, breaking a record that had stood since 1967. He was a two-time MSL champion, a 1996 District Champion, a two-time First Team All-MSL selection, and a member of the 1996 All-Central District team. He qualified for the state meet in 1996 and placed 10th.

Dominique "Nikkie" White, Class of 2017 – Volleyball
Nikkie established herself as one of the most accomplished volleyball players in Hamilton Township history. She earned First Team MSL honors and was named MSL Player of the Year in 2015, followed by All-State recognition and Honorable Mention All-Ohio honors in Division I, the first volleyball player in school history to receive that distinction. Nikkie finished her career with 1,355 kills, earning a place in the Ranger 1000 Career Kills Club. She helped lead the 2016–2017 volleyball team to a 22–3 record and currently holds school records for most blocks in a season (108) and most career blocks (341).

2026 Athletic Ranger Award of Merit: Matt Thompson

After 34 years of service to Hamilton Local Schools, Matt Thompson has retired from the district. Throughout his career, Matt served as a teacher, boys and girls basketball coach, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and, most recently, Athletic Director for the past four years.

In each of these roles, Matt demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to our students and worked diligently to help young people grow both on and off the field. His dedication to students and athletics has made a lasting impact on countless young people and on the entire Hamilton athletic community.

We are grateful for Matt's 34 years of service to Hamilton Local Schools and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

We look forward to honoring these outstanding individuals once again tomorrow night at the Hall of Fame Football Game as the Rangers host Independence High School.

Our annual Rangers for the Cure events are coming up, with several opportunities for our school community to support the district’s Komen Fund.

Our Volley for the Cure match will take place on Wednesday, September 30th, when the Rangers take on Groveport Madison. That Wednesday will also be a districtwide Pink Out, so students, staff, families and community members are encouraged to wear pink.

RANGERS FOR THE CURE EVENTS:

Wednesday, September 30th – District-wide Pink Out & Volley for the Cure vs. Groveport Madison
Friday, October 2nd – Football Pink Out

We are also selling Rangers for the Cure T-shirts. All shirts are $10, and all proceeds will benefit the district’s Komen Fund.

On Friday, September 11, 2026, Hamilton Local Schools will host our 15th Annual Military Recognition Ceremony during the Hamilton Township Rangers football game against the Chillicothe Cavaliers.

This year’s ceremony holds special significance as we gather on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. We will take time before kickoff to remember those who lost their lives, honor the courage and sacrifice of those who responded that day, and recognize the men and women who continue to serve our country and communities.

We invite current and former military service members and first responders who are connected to the Hamilton Local School District and Chillicothe City School District communities to join us and be recognized during this special pre-game ceremony.

Today was a meaningful day for the Hamilton Local School District and the City of Obetz community as Governor Mike DeWine signed legislation officially designating a portion of Interstate 270 as the PFC Chris Dixon Memorial Highway.

Chris was a 2004 graduate of Hamilton Township High School and a hometown hero who gave his life serving our country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was just 18 years old when he was killed in action in Karabilah, Iraq, on May 11, 2005.

Nearly 21 years later, his name will continue to be seen by thousands of people traveling through the community he called home.

We are grateful to Mayor Kirk, Governor DeWine, Reps. Lawson-Rowe and Adam Holmes, and everyone who worked to make this designation possible. Most importantly, we are honored to remember Chris Dixon and the sacrifice he made for our country.

Power and internet service have now been restored at all of our affected locations except Hamilton Intermediate School.

We continue to work with AEP to resolve the issue at Hamilton Intermediate as quickly as possible.

The inaugural Hamilton Middle School PTO is excited to launch its first fundraiser of the 2026-2027 school year! Funds raised will help support student reward incentives, dances, movie parties, Teacher Appreciation Week, end-of-year celebrations, and more as the PTO works to enhance the middle school experience for our students.

Students can sell premium greenhouse-quality fall mums and festive Mum Buddy character pots to friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers.

Important Dates:
Kickoff: Packets have been sent home with students
Turn In Day: Monday, August 31, at the beginning of the school day
Delivery and Pickup: Monday, September 14, from 1:00-8:00 p.m. at Hamilton Township Middle School
