WC is excited to announce Erin Smith as the head coach for the inaugural season of the Boys Volleyball program. With a deep passion for the sport and a strong commitment to student-athletes, Coach Smith is set to lead the Warriors as they embark on this exciting new chapter.

Smith has been a part of the WC community since 2022, serving as a Staff Accountant in our administrative offices. She is also a dedicated WC parent, with three children currently enrolled at the school. Her coaching experience includes leading both the seventh and eighth-grade Girls’ Volleyball teams at WC. She has a lifelong love for the game, having played competitively at Westerville South High School before continuing in recreational and sand leagues as an adult.

“I am such a believer in the benefits of team sports and want to give students every opportunity to play a team sport in school,” said Smith. “Boys volleyball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., and I love the idea of teaching kids a sport they can continue to play throughout their lives. I’ve already heard from so many people excited to see boys volleyball at WC, and I hope our student-athletes feel that excitement, too.”

Smith views athletics as an incredible mission field where the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship shine. She recalls a defining coaching moment when an opposing team’s parents and officials commended her players for their character and competitive spirit. “That moment reminded me that our testimony on and off the court matters,” she said. “I want to help teach kids how to pick the right ‘fights’ in life and, most importantly, to keep their faith while running.”

WC Athletic Director Tony Earp shared his enthusiasm for the program’s launch and Coach Smith’s leadership: “We could not be more blessed to have Erin at the helm of our newest Varsity Warriors team this spring. Coach Smith was committed and determined to help bring this opportunity to WC for our boys interested in playing volleyball. We are excited to see the start and growth of the program under her leadership and the incredible impact she will have on the WC student-athletes who take the court for the first time.”

Tonight is the Spring Parent/Coach Meeting on at 6:30 PM at the Upper School. At least one parent is required to attend this meeting. Athletes may attend but are not required. Don't forget to complete your FinalForms if you haven't already done so!

Congratulations to Matt Hamilton, WC Girls Varsity Bowling coach, on being named Coach of the Year by the Central Ohio High School Bowling Conference (COHSBC)!

WC Athletic Director Tony Earp said, "Coach Hamilton is a transformational coach. He cares deeply about growing each student’s strength in their faith and love for bowling. Regardless of whether an athlete is a novice or a veteran bowler, he makes the season memorable and meaningful through the time and energy he spends coaching each athlete, helping them improve and grow in confidence, and establishing a supportive culture among the team. We are blessed to have Coach Hamilton as part of the WC family and thankful for all he does to support our student-athletes."
