Meet Ms. Svatora, the new face bringing math to life at CMS! 🧮✨ This is her very first teaching job, and she teaches 5th-grade math. She went to UNK and got her degree in elementary education (K-6). 🎓 She says she loves it here so far and that she enjoys working with the 5th-grade team. 💛 Her favorite part about teaching middle schoolers is helping them feel comfortable in a new building and getting to work with them. When asked what fictional school she would want to teach at and why, she said, "Hogwarts, because there would never be a dull moment there." 🧙‍♀️ If she had to describe herself with a color, she chose "a very bright, happy yellow" because color is a very important part of her life, as seen in her classroom. 🌈 With her vibrant energy and passion for teaching, Ms. Svatora is sure to make a memorable impact here at CMS! 🌟

Meet Mrs. Bourek-Hoyt! 🎶 She’s been making music fun for students at CMS. She’s the director of our 5th-6th-grade play, Snow White 🎭, and she is also a coach for a 7th-8th-grade talent show!
Besides that, she is a co-director of Singing Around Columbus, an Honor Choir for 4th-6th grade 🎤. She’s also in a book club and plays for a couple of churches outside of school.
She graduated from Wayne State College with K-6 Music Education and 7-12 Music Education degrees. 🎓 She also has a degree in counseling!
She taught at Emerson Elementary for 17 years, at North Park for 9 years, and at West Park for 8 years. Before she came to teach here in Columbus, she taught in Geneva for 2 years, where she taught kindergarten through twelfth grade. Her first teaching job was in Iowa, where she taught all grades for 12 years!
She didn’t teach any other subjects before teaching music, but she was working on getting a minor in English and never really taught it. In her free time, she likes to read 📖, play bunko, and teach piano lessons outside of school. 🎹
She decided to be a music teacher because her uncle was also a music teacher. She tells us how her family is made up of musicians! 🎺 A song that really inspires her is “Over the Rainbow” 🌈 from The Wizard of Oz. She played this song for her wedding and danced to it with her son. 💃

⭐️The 8 Silver student of the week is an enthusiastic participant in class and stays focused even when others aren't. He follows directions, completes his work, and is willing to try again until he gets it right. Congratulations to the 8 Silver Student of the Week, Jayden!
⭐️The 8th Maroon Student of the Week is a true silent rockstar! He may not always be the loudest in the room, but his actions speak volumes. He is respectful toward both his teachers and peers, comes to school ready to learn, and consistently completes his work on time. He is responsible, dependable, and quietly sets a great example for those around him. His positive attitude and consistent effort make him a wonderful student to have in class. ⭐️The 7 Silver Student of the Week is always on task. She is super helpful to her peers. She is focused in class and always on top of her work. She will ask questions when she doesn't understand. We are proud to have you on 7 Silver team. Great job, Arianna!
⭐️The 7 Maroon Student of the Week is always on task. He is super polite and respectful to others. He enters every classroom with a positive greeting. Meet Mr. Breitkreutz! 🎉 He earned his master's degree at Peru State College; he also earned his middle grades degree at UNK. Before coming to CMS, Mr. Breitkreutz taught at Elkhorn for 16 years as a science and STEM teacher. Some after-school jobs/clubs Mr. Breitkreutz helps with are flag football 🏈, wrestling 🤼, and track 🏃; he also helps Ms. Ditter with the musical set 🎭! If Mr. Breitkreutz were an animal, he would be a pika because he said they are funny. Mr. Breitkreutz's favorite TV show/movie is Reacher; he also reads all the books. Mr. Breitkreutz likes seeing his students learn new stuff and seeing his students teach one another 🤝.
