Our 2026 Weeks of Welcome to celebrate the start of the fall term continued today at The Communiversity, where students and staff were treated to Black Sheep Brew’s wide-ranging selection of hot and cold beverages, including specialty coffees, lattes, and energy refreshers. Dubbed Morning Fuel Up, the event to provide drinks at no charge to students was sponsored by the office of the Dean of Students on our Golden Triangle campus. WELCOME: The MS State Board of Cosmetology & Barbering conducted a town hall at The Communiversity today for cosmetology and barbering instructors, as well as practicing hairstylists to inform them of new rules and regulation changes. A presentation was also offered on domestic violence and human trafficking, which is a mandatory continuing education class for licensed cosmetologists and barbers in the state. Among other things, the MS State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering regulates the instruction and practice of cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, and nail technology in the state. The board also establishes rules and regulations for licensure and administers licensure exams. Additionally, the board sets sanitation standards and industry practices to benefit consumers and protect the public’s health and safety. We are registering students now for the Cosmetology and Barbering programs on our Golden Triangle campus.
