Welcome Ruth Nneoma Oliwe, a PhD Candidate in Teaching and Learning, STEM Education at The Ohio State University College of Education and Human Ecology, whose research explores mathematics identity and agency among Black girls across the U.S. and Nigeria.

Her work uses approaches like comics and digital storytelling to connect learning with students’ lived experiences, families, and communities.

CETE's Translational Research Value Activation Guide was introduced at a recent CETE Learn by Dr. Gabrielle Johnson, reinforcing an important principle: translation happens in how CETE collaborates, makes decisions, builds relationships, and applies what is designed to create meaningful change.

This guide promotes a culture of continuous learning, with prompts and activities that create space to reflect.

What does it mean for an organization to embody a set of values? Dr. Gabrielle Johnson led a CETE Learn focused on CETE’s translational values activation guide, with examples for associates to understand how values can influence change at every level, from individual attitudes and behaviors to team practices, organizational culture, communities, and ultimately society.

These practical strategies are designed to help associates move from understanding values to actively living them.

How does CETE turn knowledge into action? The Family Leaders for Ohio Schools Academy demonstrates the power of translational research in practice by equipping families with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to drive meaningful change in their local schools and communities.

Through the academy, parents and caregivers learn about educational systems, policy, data, and community engagement, then apply that learning to real-world challenges affecting students and families. The result is stronger partnerships, more engaged families, and solutions that improve educational experiences across Ohio.
