🤯 While I don't count my year as a substitute when I talk about experience (and it's not acknowledged by the PSC), I've been an MCSD's payroll for 15 years. My 15th year anniversary as a full-time employee will be in December. Times flies when you're having fun. I just need it to slow down some.

The Georgia Department of Education is recognizing schools that demonstrated exceptional achievement or growth in reading and mathematics during the 2024-2025 school year — naming Literacy Leader schools for excellence in reading and Math Leader schools for excellence in mathematics.

"Strong literacy and math skills open the door for every opportunity our students will encounter in school, in their future careers, and in life," State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. "The schools recognized as Literacy Leaders and Math Leaders have shown a deep commitment to ensuring every student has the tools to succeed. I'm proud to honor their work and the positive impact they're making on students across our state as we work to prepare all students for life."

I'm three weeks into my fifth year as the K-5 Mathematics Content Specialist for MCSD. 2021 doesn't seem that far away. While I do miss the classroom at times, I'm that I get to support the elementary math educators and students of Muscogee County. I'm excited for the 2025-2026 school year.

I miss my days of being the Math Stars coach at NCES. However, I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to partner with Dr. Flakes and Key Elementary School on the Central Region Elementary Math Tournament. I enjoy writing the tournament questions and being the emcee of the ciphering rounds.

I got to spend the first three days of the 2024-2025 school year helping with morning drop-off and dismissal at NCES. Being around the students and seeing their excitement makes makes starting my day an hour early much easier. It is always great to when I can go home and serve. Here's to a great school year for all of our students.

Congratulations to all of the 2024 graduates! Some of my first group of 5th grade students are graduating from college, and my fifth group of 5th grade students are graduating from high school. I am extremely proud of all of their accomplishments!
