A degree can change more than a résumé. It can change what comes next. 💙

For 25 years, Zane State College and Franklin University have worked together to help students continue their education without leaving their communities behind.

Kayla Taylor is one of those students.

After stepping away from college to become a mom, Kayla returned years later while working full time. Through the 3+1 partnership, she built on the credits she had already earned, completed her bachelor’s degree online and took the next step in her career with the State of Ohio.

Her words are a reminder of what can happen when you keep going:
“Regardless of what happens in life, I just have to believe in myself.”

Nearly 700 students have earned bachelor’s degrees through this partnership over the past 25 years. We’re proud to celebrate the people and stories behind that number.

Some paths don’t make sense until you look back.

Today, Tizzie N. ’06 is the founder of The Spark Project, using her passion for safer schools to spark meaningful change.

But her journey started somewhere very different. From a confident high school senior with big plans to finding her way to Franklin after an unexpected change in direction, Tizzie’s story is a reminder that sometimes the next chapter looks nothing like the one you imagined.

And that’s okay. Sometimes, changing direction is exactly how you find your way forward.
