After reading The Little Red Hen Bakes Bread, we decided to make our own butter to enjoy with our bread. We shook and shook the cream until—voilà!—we had butter! The children were excited to see how the cream changed into butter, and it was so yummy!
Pre-K GELDS Connections:
• Scientific Inquiry – CD-SC1:Children observed, explored, and described the physical changes that occurred as the cream changed into butter through hands-on investigation.
• Language and Literacy – CLL1:Children used language to describe the butter-making process, share observations, and discuss what they noticed.
