Capital University Law School Paralegal Alumni Page
This page is dedicated to keep you up to date on what is going on with the Capital University Law School Graduate Paralegal Program.
The Paralegal Program at Capital University Law School prepares you to work under the direction of an attorney, but does not prepare you to offer legal advice, provide legal services directly to the general public or engage in the practice of law. This page will provide updates on news and events on what is going on with the program.
Good afternoon. I would like to respond here to many of your comments about discontinuing the Paralegal Program.
The Paralegal Program has had many years of success preparing students for the legal profession. Beginning in 2022-2023, we stopped accepting applications and enrolling students because of a significant drop in program inquiries, applications, and admitted students. During this pause we conducted focus groups, assessed changes in the legal market, and considered options to restructure the curriculum and delivery of paralegal education to better meet student needs. The decision to end the program was made strategically and deliberately. Several factors guided this decision including (1) decreased enrollment (especially post-COVID), (2) competition in the online space, and (3) the costs associated with restructuring and introducing an updated program to better meet the needs of students and the legal community.
This was a difficult decision because of the program's deep impact on students, alumni, and the legal community. But the Law School is looking ahead to consider other opportunities to support the legal community. And we will continue supporting our alumni network through access to the Law Library, transcripts, career assistance, and alumni activities.
Thank you.
