May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month! Did you know the tick that spreads Lyme Disease can be found throughout Franklin County and even in your backyard? The good news is Lyme Disease can be easily prevented by removing ticks soon after they attach or by preventing tick bites in the first place.
After being outside, make sure you are checking for the tiny blacklegged tick nymphs (pictured), as they are the ones spreading Lyme Disease this time of year. They are as small as a poppy seed! Don't forget to check your pet, too!
