🎓Columbus School of Practical Nursing ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Today's Alumni Spotlight is on Bianca Woolfolk, a 2020 CSPN graduate and an LPN at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Bianca, how did the Columbus School of Practical Nursing prepare you for your role? "CSPN provided a strong clinical foundation and emphasizing discipline, accountability, and critical thinking. Although I attended during the COVID-19 pandemic, the program adapted by incorporating mock clinicals and offering additional support to ensure we still developed essential hands-on skills. Instructors were accessible, supportive, and genuinely invested in our success which helped me build confidence in my abilities. This experience prepared me to transition into a fast-paced healthcare environment and succeed in my current role as a nurse in a major hospital. "

What is your best memory of your time at the CSPN? "One of my most memorable experiences was overcoming my difficulty with dosage calculations. I remember feeling extremely overwhelmed and frustrated because I did not understand the material and was close to giving up. Mr. Kramer told me that I had to stay until I understood it, and I remember telling him that I was not going to stay in the classroom another second. Despite how I felt in that moment, I decided to trust what he said—that once it clicked, I would be okay—so I stayed and kept working through it. Eventually, everything began to make sense, and that persistence paid off. When I took the dosage calculation exam, I earned 100%. When I received my test back, I ran up to Mr. Kramer, hugged him, and told him I got every question correct. He smiled and said, “duh, of course you did,” and we both started laughing. That moment stands out to me because it reflects not only the support and encouragement from my instructors, but also the confidence I gained in myself through perseverance."

What advice do you have for current students enrolled in CSPN, Bianca? "Stay focused, stay consistent, and use the support available to you. Nursing school is demanding, but it is manageable if you remain disciplined and committed to your goals. Do not hesitate to ask questions or seek help from your instructors, they are there to support you. Even during challenging times, like what we experienced during the pandemic, it is possible to succeed if you stay motivated and trust the process. Completing this program can be life-changing, so remain focused on the long-term outcome."

Thanks for sharing, Bianca. Wishing you continued professional success!💐
