THE NUMBERS SHOULD MAKE US PAY ATTENTION. ‼️

According to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), approximately 29,300 young people were in residential placement facilities across the United States in 2023.

That’s an increase from approximately 24,900 in 2021.

While youth placement has declined significantly over the years, thousands of young people are still being removed from their homes and communities.

And behind every number is a young person.

A child with a family.
A story.
Potential.
And a future that is still being written.

At Paroled2Pride, we believe we have to look beyond the statistics.

We have to ask:

What support did this young person need before they entered the system?

Who was there to guide them?

What happens when they return home?

Prevention, mentorship, education, family support, workforce development, and successful reentry all matter.

Because our goal shouldn’t simply be to count how many young people enter the system.

Our goal should be to help more young people avoid it and give those who have been impacted the support they need to build a different future.

This story speaks to something we believe strongly at Paroled2Pride.

My brother John Milton Cameron and Kent Cameron served at Rikers Island, we know that the impact of incarceration reaches far beyond the prison walls.

We cannot overlook the children and families left to navigate the emotional impact. Some children need healing, guidance, father figures, mentors, and people who understand their journey. They need to know they are seen. They need to know they matter. And they need to see representation in the people who show up for them.

We believe community has a role to play in helping break cycles and creating brighter futures.

Watch this story. Have the conversation. And most importantly, keep showing up for the people who need us. 🙏🏾

📣 COMMUNITY FEEDING IS BACK!

Join us as we come together for food, fellowship, community, and love; while honouring the people who dedicated their time and hearts to giving back.

We’re especially remembering Ms. Daisy Young Sims, our beloved volunteer coordinator and community organizer. Daisy played an important role in organizing our community feedings and gift giving efforts, always making sure families and those in need were cared for.

Her kindness, compassion, and commitment to serving others made a lasting impact on Paroled2Pride and our community.

We’re continuing this work in her memory and in honour of everyone we’ve lost who helped make a difference.

🌟 SUCCESS STORY: DELISA SHONDA FIELDS 🌟

Delisa was part of our program and worked with me for 5 years—never missing a day! Her dedication and hard work made her a great asset to our team.

Today, her hard work has paid off! She is now managing a restaurant, hiring others, creating opportunities, and training employees.

She went from being trained to training others. ❤️

We are so proud of Delisa! This is why we do what we do. When you give people an opportunity, they can turn that opportunity into purpose and success

As Paroled2Pride reflects on 19 years of serving our community, we also remember the people we’ve lost along the way; our loved ones, family members, friends, dedicated volunteer who have touched this organization and the lives of so many.

This year has brought especially difficult losses…

Each of them left an impact that will never be forgotten.

We choose to honour their lives not only through remembrance, but through service.
