You have almost certainly dived with them. Maybe even hunted them. Our friends in one hemisphere who are invasive in another: the Lionfish.

Their striped coloring and distinctive spines make the Lionfish easily identifiable. But did you know there are 12 known species of Lionfish? Some even consider there to be 16 when including dwarf species. The Lionfish is closely related to the notorious stonefish, considered to be one of, if not, the most venomous fish in the sea. While the Lionfish's venom is not as dangerous as the stonefish, we all know to give these beautiful reef fish a respectful amount of space.

Yes, we used the hashtag 'fish fact friday' but we're going to enlighten you with all kinds of underwater facts, not simply fish facts. After all, what if we have a fun fact about a crustacean or a mammal?

Fun Fact: Many of us divers are familiar with a thermocline, but did you know multiple other clines exist too? For instance, a halocline is where fresh and saltwater meet but don't mix. Even more curious, a chemocline is where two different chemicals also meet with minimal to no mixing happening.

Now, the coolest part, the three clines we have mentioned, thermocline, halocline, and chemocline, can sometimes be found and experienced in a single dive site. The cenotes in Mexico are examples of dive sites that have all three clines in one location.

The PADI Equipment Specialty Course will teach you how to resolve equipment issues when they happen and maintain your gear to ensure issues happen less.

The Cylindex Regulator Service Technician course is a hands-on experience teaching you the fundamentals of regulator mechanics & service.

And finally, the Cylindex Cylinder Assessment Technician (C.A.T.) course is a HAZMAT, DOT, and OSHA compliant training for the safe inspection, oxygen cleaning, and valve maintenance of high-pressure cylinders.

Who should take these courses:

Dive pros. All three courses benefit dive pros, from instructors to shop staff. Understanding the intricacy of scuba equipment gives you an edge over other professionals and applicants.

Tech divers. The equipment demands of technical diving are extreme. Ensure your understanding of maintenance and governmental compliance are sufficient by continuing your training out of the water with these courses.
