The mission of COMTO is to ensure a level playing field and maximum participation in the transportation industry for minority individuals, businesses and communities of color through advocacy, information sharing, training, education and professional development. The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials Columbus Chapter (COMTO Columbus) is one of 40 Chapters nationwide. COMTO’s expanding national footprint has a rich history of advocacy, networking, education and professional development training. It is supplemented by a strong and growing multi-state infrastructure of chapters whose members support the COMTO values of inclusion, disadvantaged business equity, the sharing of intellectual capital, and a focused compassion for diversity in multimodal transportation. On the chapter level, COMTO Columbus is an independent non-profit organization that is a pathway to partnership with state, county and local officials as well as the private sector. COMTO Columbus engages these entities to determine strategic priorities for multimodal transportation development in Central Ohio. Since its inception, COMTO has continued to evolve to become the premier organization for the training, education and professional development of minority transportation professionals. The true measure of how far COMTO has come is revealed by the talent, tenacity and accomplishments of the members who have joined forces to correct the inequities of the past and chart the direction of the future.

COMTO Columbus joins the transportation community in honoring and celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Floun’say Caver, GCRTA COO.

Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and the COMTO Cleveland Chapter during this difficult time. Dr. Caver was more than a leader—he was a trailblazer, mentor, and inspiration whose impact reached far beyond the organizations he served.

His dedication, leadership, and commitment to advancing our industry will not be forgotten. We are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind and the many lives he touched along the way.

May his memory forever be a blessing, and may his legacy continue to inspire us all.

The COMTO Columbus Chapter welcomes you to their 12th Annual Golf FORE Education Scholarship Outing, Monday, September 21, 2026. The golf committee has planned a fine golfing experience by holding the event at Champions Golf Course, one of Columbus' hidden secret golf courses. The Champions Golf Course is considered one of Central Ohio’s most challenging public courses because of its rolling fairways, mature trees, demanding doglegs, undulating greens, and hilly terrain.

Want to join us, but you haven't golfed in a while or ever? No worries. We'll also be holding our "Knock The Dust Off" Golf Clinic prior to the event. Meet us at the Golf Depot, Friday, September 18, 2026.

In 2025, COMTO Columbus surpassed $275,000 in scholarship giving in the past nine years. Net proceeds from this fundraising event will provide much-needed financial support to Central Ohio college and high school students pursuing careers in the transportation industry and STEM fields.

So come out, have a great time for an amazing educational cause! We will see you then!
