Last school year, we played Teacher Trivia Time, or Theme Song Thursday, with our staff during our radio call-in show over the school announcements! We take the 3rd, 5th, or 7th caller with the answer to our trivia questions and then reward the winner with a donated gift card from local businesses! The staff loved it, and the students enjoyed helping our staff with the answers!

Today's big winner was Mrs. Thompson...and her 6th grade helpers!

If you would be willing to donate $5 gift cards to Southside, our staff and I would greatly appreciate it! You can drop off donations anytime in the office. Please consider putting your name on the donation envelope so we can thank you!

Sorry for the late notice, but to err on the side of caution and safety, the Southside PTO Meeting is canceled tonight and rescheduled for next Tuesday, August 18th, at 6:30 pm in the library! We hope to see you next Tuesday!

Is your student ready to make their next smart move? Registration is now open for the Southside Elementary School Chess Club! Whether your child is a complete beginner learning how the pieces move or an experienced player looking to sharpen their strategy, all skill levels are welcome.

Club Details
When: Thursdays from 2:45 PM to 4:00 PM
Start Date: September 10
Fee: $20 per semester (covers a ChessKid.com account subscription and physical chess boards for the school)

What to Expect
Students will receive instruction and participate in fun matches using ChessKid.com, a safe and educational online platform. For students looking for an extra challenge, both in-person and virtual tournament opportunities will be available throughout the year.
