AEDE is a premier academic department that studies the application of economic and business principles to the challenges of agriculture, the food system, the environment, and economic development. Housed in Ohio State's College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, AEDE currently has 21 world-class faculty members and administers highly respected Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programs. Of the 66 Ohio State programs that appeared in the recent National Research Council’s "Data-Based Assessment of Research-Doctorate Programs in the United States", AEDE ranked as the top program in the U.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics (using the regression-based ranking calculation), which is a prestigious honor. AEDE is the only Ohio State program to earn a top ranking in either of the two reported ranking methods.

🎉 Congratulations to AEDE student Emma Strickler on being named a 2026 Ohio Agricultural Council scholarship recipient! Emma is a freshman majoring in Agribusiness and Agricultural Communication. Growing up on a family farm and spending 10 years involved in 4-H, Emma developed a strong passion for agriculture and hopes to one day serve as a voice for farmers and their communities. 🌾

AEDE was on the road this summer! 🌱📊 Members of The Ohio State University community recently traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, for the 2026 Midwest Extension Farm Management and Outlook Conference at the University of Kentucky.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for professional development, collaboration, and conversations surrounding the future of farm management and agricultural economics.

AEDE was represented through presentations by Seungki Lee, Margaret Jodlowski, and Eric Richer, along with Extension Educators Delaney Weisend, Rylee Kay Puthoff, and Mike Estadt and Farm Office team members Clint Schroeder, Eric Richer, and Bruce Clevenger.

We’re proud to see our AEDE and Ohio State Extension professionals representing the University, sharing their expertise, and building connections across the agricultural economics community! 🌾
