A career-defining risk. A setback. A reset year.
Melinda Whittington (BSBA ’89) didn’t just talk generally about resilience as Fisher’s Pre-Commencement speaker — she shared how she’s lived it.
From P&G to her current role as CEO and board chair of La-Z-Boy, she shared hard-earned lessons on risk, resilience and staying agile in a world shaped by tariffs, war and AI.
Her advice to the Class of 2026 (and to all of us):
“Ask ‘why not’ instead of ‘why.’”

At the 2026 President’s Buckeye Accelerator finale, six student‑led startups each earned $50,000 in funding — and we’re proud to celebrate the Fisher students among the winners.
Congratulations to MBA students Ritika Chakraborty and Bria Isaacson (Colectic) and Luke Carrell (Side Coach Sports), and undergraduate student Meredith Kuhlman (PathoTrace). Their business insight, curiosity and purpose to solve real‑world problems helped them stand out among more than 50 student ventures throughout the competition.
