At C.R.U.M.P, the child is the center of our curriculum. Our developmentally appropriate curriculum provides a variety of experiences to encourage each child to grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. We believe that a child learns best when given an opportunity to discover, explore, be challenged, and solve problems through direct exploration. We believe that play is a child’s
way of actively learning about the world and self and leads a child to independence, self-confidence, self control and a sense of responsibility. C.R.U.M.P has chosen the nationally recognized “The Creative Curriculum for Preschoolers” as the basis for learning in our school. Our Curriculum identifies basic goals in the following areas of development:
SOCIAL: to help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are a part of a group. EMOTIONAL: to help children experience pride and self-confidence, develop independence and self-control, and to have a positive outlook toward life. PHYSICAL: to help children increase their large and small muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do. COGNITIVE & LANGUAGE: to help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings.
