Welcome to a Taste of Travel where we indulge both your sense of Wanderlust and passion for food. Our year-round cooking classes are taught at various recreational cooking schools in Columbus (and other locations), while our Taste of Travel trips offer unique tours-des-cuisines around the world. Taste of Travel cooking classes recreate some of our favorite dishes experienced during our travels. Ea

ch class features two or three recipes from a specific region, for example Provence, the Italian Riviera or Cape Cod. Lively hands-on classes or cooking demonstrations are sprinkled with a bit of history and culture. You'll learn about the background of each dish, regional food traditions, and variations on the theme. Discussions might cover a beautiful blend of food, scenery, art, and architecture, which help to put the region and recipes into context. Our Taste of Travel trips range from day trips and long weekends to ten day guided tours. The itineraries incorporate cooking classes, market shopping, and themed food-focused trips. Journey with us through the back roads of New York's Finger Lakes to visit wonderful wineries, shop through a Tuscan market then cook with your ingredients, or learn about Provencal food traditions while exploring beautiful villages. Experience a Taste of Travel through our year-round culinary programs at The Mix, Columbus State's recreational cooking program held in in state-of-the-art kitchens in Mitchell Hall, downtown Columbus. A complete list of our current classes can be found at https://mix.cscc.edu/. About the Instructor: Shawnie Kelley has lived and worked in France, Scotland, and England and continues to travel extensively for professional and personal inspiration. Shawnie is also a food writer and Chef Instructor at Columbus State. As a food lover, she is particularly interested in exploring regional culinary traditions and how cuisine connects us with culture, history, and each other, which explains how food finds its way into nearly every aspect of her work and travels. Check out Shawnie's books on her official Amazon Author page, original recipes on www.wanderlust-tours.com website, and a world of recipes and food photography on her Instagram and Pinterest pages.
