The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s latest Labor Market Outcomes report ranks foreign language majors among the top five degrees for employment in the U.S.
Only Education and Agriculture fields rank higher. Foreign language majors show an unemployment rate of just 1.6%. Add a foreign language to your curriculum and become more marketable!

Sigma Delta Pi recognizes excellence in the study of Spanish language, Hispanic literature, and the diverse cultures of the Spanish speaking world. The society promotes scholarship, leadership, and service while fostering a deep appreciation for cultural understanding and global engagement.

We celebrate not only academic achievement, but also the dedication, perseverance, and passion these inductees bring to our community.

Get ready for Span 2002!

Litza Vazquez Hendrix, a senior BA in Modern Language and Culture- Spanish with Teacher Certification track in the Department of Society, Culture, and Languages, was awarded the Professional Association of Georgia Educators’ (PAGE) Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) award on Thursday, January 29, 2026 (https://www.pageinc.org/star). The STAR award is given to Georgia’s highest-achieving high school seniors and the teacher who was most instrumental in their academic development. Mrs. Vazquez Hendrix holds a provisional certification and currently teaches Spanish at Long County High School. She is in her last semester of classes and will complete her Internship and graduation in Fall 2026. We are proud of Mrs. Hendrix and the outstanding work and contributions that she is already making toward student success in her Georgia school district.
