RE: COVID-19 Update: Student and Business Services, Building Access, Academic Success
The University’s emergency response team continues to meet daily to evaluate risk from COVID-19 and develop plans that best serve the health and safety of our students. There continues to be no confirmed cases on the Capital campuses; however, the virus has been detected in Franklin County and in the Bexley community. We are committed to supporting our students throughout this challenging and stressful time so that they can continue their studies and achieve their goals. Thank you for your patience.
Today’s update includes:
• Student and Business Services
• Building Access
• Academic Success
• Commencements Postponed
• Schumacher Gallery Closed
Student and Business Services:
The University is committed to continuing student services and business operations to the fullest extent possible. While many faculty and staff will be able to work remotely, student services and business offices will continue to remain open during normal office hours, 8:30 AM to 5 PM, through this Friday, March 20. Offices will shift to a modified operating schedule beginning Monday, March 23.
Building Access:
All buildings on campus have transitioned to keycard access only in order to limit public access and visitors on campus. Contact Public Safety (614-236-6666) if your card access is not working.
All academic and office buildings are keycard accessible for all faculty, staff, and students during normal business hours. Each building has one or more entrances that are keycard access doors. For Yochum Hall, although the front doors are locked, the keycard access doors are the ramp door on the east side of the building and the south entrance facing the parking lot.
Academic Success:
Academic Success has transitioned all academic support services to online and continues to serve students remotely.
Peer Tutoring sessions (one-on-one and small group), Writing Center consultations, and Academic Coaching sessions will be held online using Zoom. Students can still go to tutortrac.capital.edu, click “Search Availabilities,” and choose the appropriate center (tutoring, writing, or coaching) to search for available appointment times and schedule appointments. Students can also email [email protected] for assistance with scheduling. Students will receive an email containing a link to their online session prior to the appointment time. Any connected device with a camera and audio (desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) can be used to join an online session.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions will also continue online for supported courses: BUS 211, CHEM 150, ECON 101, MATH 120, MATH 230, and NURS 326. SI Leaders will send separate communications to students enrolled in these courses to clarify when SI sessions will be held and how to access them online.
The Academic Success student and professional staff will work with students to assist them as they transition to using our services online. Students who feel they do not have the necessary tools or connectivity to utilize these online support options should contact [email protected].
Commencements Postponed:
The University has made the difficult decision to postpone all of our May 2020 Commencement celebrations – Bexley campus, Trinity Lutheran Seminary and Law School. We will continue to monitor the public health situation in the weeks ahead and work to schedule a time to celebrate these important milestones with students, their friends and family. Upon completion of credits, graduating students will still earn their degree on time, and diplomas will be issued in May.
Schumacher Gallery:
The Schumacher Galley will remain closed through the end of the semester.

Classes at Capital University are cancelled for the rest of the week. More details in link below...
