The Wellington School

The Wellington School We help students find their purpose and realize their potential for tomorrow's world. Founded in 1982 as the first independent co-ed school in Columbus, Ohio.

In the fall of 1982, a group of Columbus entrepreneurs started Wellington because they wanted a different kind of educational experience for their children. Our founders wanted to celebrate individuality. They wanted to build a community. They wanted to educate the whole person. Since its beginning, Wellington has been at the vanguard of teaching what matters, valuing experiences in the arts, athl

etics, and service equally with academics. Today, Wellington provides a forward-thinking learning community with a caring, connected membership. Each member of our community looks after and respects one another, collaborates and interacts, and engages with the world. We are creating lifelong learners in our students and that philosophy shapes Wellington’s approach to delivering an exceptional educational experience. We give students the tools and the opportunities to discover their unique potential. We help them build confidence by asking them to take risks and giving them a safe place to land. We give them the flexibility in their studies to pursue their passions in-depth, both inside and outside the classroom.

This summer, nine Wellington students traveled to Camp Miniwanca in Michigan for the National Leadership Conference, a week-long immersive leadership experience that brought together students from across the country. Students stepped outside their comfort zones, built genuine connections, and explored leadership as a daily practice rooted in courage, empathy, curiosity, responsibility, and service to others.

Campus was abuzz this summer, and it shows!

✨The 1918 building on Fishinger Road is now gone, making way for a new entrance and a dynamic new home for Upper School later in 2027.
✨Roberts Field received major upgrades: a new sound system and new turf featuring the refreshed Athletic brand.
✨The Outdoor Learning Pavilion now features even more seating for hands-on learning and fun.
✨And more! Like newly renovated Upper School classrooms and Visual Arts Center that are already improving campus life. Stay tuned for a tour of those spaces coming soon.
