At Techie Camp, kids don’t just use technology. They build, create, test, and bring their ideas to life.

Through hands-on challenges and real-world problem-solving, students build technology skills, confidence, and creativity, and see themselves as creators of what’s next.

Thanks to the generous support of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Columbus students in the Near West, Hilltop, Far East, and Northland neighborhoods had the opportunity to participate in all four Techie Camp experiences:

• Tech Explorer
• Eco-Rangers
• Tech Quest
• Smart Cities

From coding and sensors to artificial intelligence and designing solutions for real-world challenges, students spent their summer learning by doing.

This is what summer looks like when kids get the tools to turn curiosity into creation.

When students have access to meaningful technology learning, they can turn curiosity into capability,
and capability into thriving careers.

🎉 We’re celebrating Kirey, a 2026 Canal Wi******er High School graduate who was recognized at the Lead the Way Learning Academy Recognition!

Through Student TECH CORPS: Web Development, Kirey gained hands-on experience building websites, collaborating with a team, and connecting her learning to future career possibilities.

For students and families wondering where learning technology can lead, Kirey shared an important takeaway:

💻 “There’s a multitude of career paths to get into. Whether you’re into visuals, functionality, or wish to learn it all, there’s a role for everyone in this industry.”

She also reflected on the confidence she gained through the experience:

💡 “I’ve learned the skills needed to develop my attention to detail and use a mix of methodical and creative approaches to solving problems.”

Student TECH CORPS gives high school students an opportunity to build technical and durable skills through hands-on, career-connected experiences. For Kirey, that meant getting a glimpse of what working in technology can really feel like.

Congratulations, Kirey! We’re excited to see where your skills and curiosity take you next.

Thank you to The Columbus Foundation for supporting this Student TECH CORPS experience.

Curiosity is the first step to discovering what's possible.

Thanks to the generous support of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and the Adams Family Foundation, more students are exploring the world through Tech Quest. As they tackle hands-on technology challenges, they'll code, test, solve problems, and discover that they have what it takes to create with technology.

Every challenge completed is another step toward greater confidence, new skills, and a future full of possibilities.

Thank you for helping make these opportunities possible for more students.
