y soul as a stepmom were horrendous! I cannot express into words sometimes just how rough it got. I am sure stepmoms will agree that some of the time it is not your stepchildren that create the stress and chaos but the ex/biomom. Even the court system doesn't help oftentimes, but instead creates more stress, like in our case, where the courts did not do what was in the best interest of my three stepsons. We spent way too much money and way too many years in court. I almost did not make it through this journey of stepmotherhood. I just wanted to be the best Stepmom I could be. I thought I would be an extra role model in my stepsons' lives and attend a few soccer and football games here and there. I did not realize how involved in their lives I was actually going to become. I am sure most stepmoms will agree with me that their definition of a "stepmom" is different now from when they first became one. I had to find a way to turn the struggles, frustration, overwhelming feelings of raging anger and hopelessness into something positive and move forward by taking baby steps in this journey. And now, over nine wedding anniversaries later, we are out of court dramas, have more time than ever with the boys and even watch their younger half-sister and believe it or not, their mom and I are also now in business together with Lisa & Lisa Jewelry So, LOTS of exciting changes and LOTS of happier, more peaceful times. So, hang in their Stepmoms--You CAN survive this, you CAN get through this! Happier times are on the other side of the mile long race of hurdles.
