"Stand for something or fall for anything"

- ".... [If] anybody owe you bread, do not accept the crumbs...

- ... bet on yourself, if you gon' roll the dice on anything...

- ... Don't go blowin' bags on a bag, if you can't put a bag in it...

- ... And never [mess] with [people] you never see with [their] children...

- ...[Get] a few deeds and some LLCs so you ain't cooked if a [partner] leaves...

- ... Sweet life ain't always sweet, [a woman] gotta stay on her Q's and P's..."

These are some of Kash Doll's Kommandments, what are yours? Drop in with me on 4/20 and let's clarify our standards.

Music Speaks Theology is a virtual conversation about the God talk happening in "unlikely" spaces, in this case, non-church music. This event centers the lived experiences of Black women, but is open to all folx and allies.

Content warning: The featured song, "Kash Kommandments" by Kash Doll contains explicit racial, gendered, and sexual language, oh and cuss words. If you tend to clutch your pearls easily, maybe sit this one out😊 lol.

"Encouraging each other as you see the day approaching..."

Center your week on this *spiritual practice* from our Minister in Residence Constance Dunlap: MAKE PEOPLE FEEL BIGGER 💓💞💓

As folks battle loneliness, grapple with fascism, and struggle to get by, sometimes the best thing we can do is offer radical hope & love in action.

---

"Make people feel bigger.
Make people feel seen.
Make people feel safe.
Make people feel cared for.
Make people feel salvageable.
Make people feel like a different future is possible.

Because we all need that grace.
And we can all be contributors to that grace."

Hi friends!

I am thinking of hosting a series of virtual story sharing/connection group meet ups around caring for elderly parents and parents actively transitioning into the next phase of existence.

Would any of yall be interested in dropping in?

I'm biased toward it being a group centering the experiences of Black and brown women, but it certainly could be open to all.

Thoughts?

So, its been a while since I've paid attention to Father's Day sermons, but im curious today. Do we always conflate fatherhood to manhood? Are they the same? Is fatherhood the epitome of manhood/masculinity? Can someone be a father and a horrible man?

Come in here and talk to me lol. 🙂
