Position: Planner II (Historic Preservation)
The Planning Division of the Columbus Department of Development seeks qualified candidates to fill a Planner II position focused on historic preservation. The Planning Division values diversity in our workforce. As stated by the Mayor’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, our aim is to reflect the diversity of the citizens that makeup the population of the City of Columbus.
The City’s preservation program provides staffing to five historic architectural review commissions and oversees the Columbus Register of Historic Properties. This position involves working with a wide variety of stakeholders. Candidates should be organized, dependable and detail oriented. They should have strong communication skills, a working knowledge of historic preservation, familiarity with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation, development review, and city planning.
Minimum qualifications are a master's degree in historic preservation, urban planning, architecture, or a related field and one year of related professional experience, or a bachelor's degree and two years of experience. For more details and to respond to the posting, please visit
