Dear AWaRE page followers, this is a long overdue update. The study is no longer in session and the survey link will be closed. We have received several responses even after the official study period ended. This indicates that water issues are still an important concern in many homes. We suggest reaching out to your local water utility and local universities for assistance.

So glad to have the chance to engage with the community through the Portsmouth Public Library. We are looking forward to coming down to Scioto County!!

On Saturday, July 30th, 2022, from 1–3 p.m. the AWaRE team will hold a community outreach and educational event at the Portsmouth Public Library, 1220 Gallia St, Portsmouth, OH 45662. We are excited to share back some preliminary results, involve youth in activities similar to those from our research study, educate parents and kids alike about water quality, and present career pathways to inspire the next generation of environmental professionals! We will be doing a brief water quality activity demonstrating how water from different sources may contain different levels of contaminants. Additionally, we will also be conducting a brief mental modeling activity on the water cycle. All are welcome to attend! We will be giving away some OSU gear to all participants!

We are in the final month of data collection for our water quality study in the Northwest Regional Water District - last day to sign up is April 30th! The Ohio State team extends a big thank you to the District for being willing for us to interview customers and sample from their households and for many Friends of Scioto Brush Creek members for participating so far, as well as other Scioto County community leaders and members! Participants who complete the interview (45-60 min), survey (10-15 min) and water sampling and testing (30-45 min) will earn a $50 gift card.

Jasper and Dan attended the FoSBC Annual Meeting today it was such a fun time! We were amazed at how much we could learn about rattlesnakes! Such a pleasure to meet so many of our research participants in person too!
