OSU Center for Automotive Research

Earlier this week CAR faculty Stephanie Stockar and Marcello Canova along with Director Giorgio Rizzoni participated in the Science Coalition's “The Science of Transportation” event.

They joined industry leaders, academic researchers and policymakers to celebrate the federally funded scientific research that keeps America moving.

🌟🌟During the BattChallenge, the BattChallenge Ohio State team received a VIP visit from Stellantis CEO, Antonio Filosa and SVP of Propulsion Systems, Micky Bly.

Filosa and Bly were truly impressed by the Buckeyes professionalism and enthusiasm. According to the Stellantis leadership, “Their outstanding performance made a memorable impression, highlighting not only the talent and dedication of everyone involved but also OSU’s longstanding reputation for cultivating the next generation of engineers—thanks in large part to the support from OSU’s Center for Automotive Research.”

The team was delighted to hear that one highlight that truly set them apart was being the only group to successfully integrate their own team-developed battery into the Ram Promaster vehicle and get those wheels spinning! This achievement is a testament to the hard work and collaborative spirit that has brought the team to this exciting milestone.

Congratulations to the BattChallenge Ohio State for being named the Year Three winner of the BattChallenge Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions (AVTC)!

In addition to the overall team award, Tahmina Fatima earned the “Women in Batteries” award and teammate Sumiran Maiskar received an “Excellence in Leadership” award. David Cooke was recognized with the "Outstanding Faculty Advisor" award🏅

The 2026 BattChallenge Competition marks the culmination of a three-year journey defined by innovation, collaboration and hands-on engineering ex*****on. This final competition series brings together participating teams to complete and evaluate their battery systems in a real-world environment.
