The risk-on sectors led the way again, and the defensive sectors lagged again. These are typically signs of a healthy bullish environment. Tech has been on fire and should continue to be so, as should Discretionary and Services stocks.
Energy is not the sector to be in at this time. Of course, that could change soon, but it might be best to avoid the space for now.

Most sectors crushed it this past week, with all of the risk-on sectors leading the way. The defensive spaces were the weakest ones in the green.
The one sector that finished in the red, did so in a rough way, Energy stocks lost more than 4 percent, once again driven primarily by news out of Iran.

We decided to take a break from our usual weekly analysis to see how the first quarter of the year performed. Not surprisingly, Energy ended up on top by a wide margin. Take that sector out, due to it being driven by recent events in the Middle East, and you end of with Materials, Utilities and Consumer Staples.
The majority of the sectors that have struggled have been the risk on sectors, which may be a sign of things to come.

π Energy ended up on top again. As long as the war in Iran persists, Energy stocks will likely outperform.
π The majority of the main sectors struggled, which is to be expected when the overall market drops 2 percent. The downside was led by Utilities, Materials and Staples.

Before making a trade, decide which side of the trade provides the highest probability of success. Do you prefer the short side, long side, or do you want to trade it at all? Review the overall indices, for example the S&P 500.
Is it trending higher or lower? Has it recently broken a key resistance or support level? This will help you decide which side of the trade provides the best opportunity.
