This past summer our English students were busy putting their skills to work outside the classroom this summer, whether through internships, research, study abroad, or something else. Today, we are continuing to spotlight these impressive students, highlighting rising fourth-year Shoshanah Calland, who shares what she's learned interning at the Ohio Supreme Court.

"Throughout my internship with the Supreme Court of Ohio, I've gotten to write articles for the Supreme Court's news site, draft decision summaries, and hear live oral arguments. The classes I've taken as a Philosophy and English Literature major have strengthened my writing and provided an excellent foundation for Court-level work. I'm having a brilliant time and am honored to be an intern for the Court before my senior year starts!" - Shoshanah Calland

The fall semester may have just begun, but our English students spent their summer anything but idle, chasing internships, digging into research, studying abroad, and more. Today, we're spotlighting rising fourth-year Cameron Welte, who's sharing what he learned interning at the Dublin Arts Council.

"During my time at Dublin Arts Council, I've worked on a wide range on written projects including grant proposals, an entire rehaul of the Riverbox passport (a scavenger hunt for public art in Dublin), press releases, and web page copy for new exhibitions. As an English major, I've been able to apply knowledge gained from various coursework and other internship opportunities to my work here, further developing my voice as a writer. I've had a lovely experience at Dublin Arts Council, continuing to learn and refine my writing, while being surrounded by an incredible, supportive staff." -Cameron Welte
