I was labeled the “dumb kid” in school because I couldn’t read. Their insult made me work harder than anyone to overcome my ‘weakness’ and prove to the world I wasn’t stupid. And it’s a large part of my success! Today I over-prepare for everything I do, and it shows up as confidence.

When it comes to reading, a curriculum based on the ‘science of reading’ with the ability to identify early and provide intervention for those of us that struggle, is the only way to prevent more of us from falling into the ‘illiteracy river’.
