🌟 Staff Spotlight: Dr. Oliver Ellis 🌟
We're proud to shine this week's Staff Spotlight on Dr. Oliver Ellis, one of our incredible teachers at St. Elmo Center for the Gifted!
Now entering his third year at St. Elmo, Dr. Ellis brings an impressive background in education with degrees from the University of Georgia and a Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from Valdosta State University. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous honors, including being named a Georgia LEADS Accomplished Teacher Designee, serving on the State Superintendent's Council, and becoming one of the first Teach in the Peach Ambassadors.
Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Ellis discovered his passion for teaching after beginning college as a Pre-Med major. Today, he is dedicated to making science and math exciting, engaging, and meaningful for every student.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Ellis is the Junior Academy Director for Concorde Fire Soccer, plays guitar, can solve a Rubik's Cube in under 90 seconds, and enjoys Flaming Hot snacks and zero-sugar sodas. He and his wife of 12 years are proud parents of three children: Zay, Mav, and Phoenix.
💙 Why does he love St. Elmo?"The students. Their creativity, curiosity, humor, and brilliant minds make every day exciting. They inspire me, and I feel incredibly fortunate to help them grow."
💚 Favorite part of his job: Helping gifted students believe in themselves. As a gifted learner who understands both the joys and challenges that come with being gifted, Dr. Ellis is passionate about helping students recognize their strengths, embrace who they are, and know they are never alone.
