I wanted to share this from a director. Home office and all that contributed thank you. This is in reference to The Sanbox:
WOW!
I just logged in to CC Connected and they have created a resource called the sandbox. It's amazing!!!! Honest truth, I don't know why someone wouldn't do CC next year with this resource. It gives you everything you need to do with your kids including:
• morning time plans and weekly planning sheets (including a hymn suggestion you can use for the week and a space to note which character virtue you are learning)
• activity sheets for each subject, based on age
• discussion guides for science and art at home,
• activity sheets to go with your New World Echoes reading
• ideas for practicing new grammar (tutors you'll love this—its basically the prep you'd have to do!)
• and even videos to watch with your kids to correspond to the week (like art hub videos to do on how to draw a sailboat for Christopher Columbus)
• encouragement for moms
• connections of the weekly material to Challenge material (I think its really good to look ahead and see how what we're learning now connects, even if its just you as a parent, not even telling your kids necessarily)
I am seriously impressed.
I really think many moms will find this helpful. It might not be stick in the sand enough for your family, but it is something where you can pick and choose what you want to use.
Anyway, I hope I don't sound too excited about this, but if you are talking to someone who is debating homeschooling, I DO ENCOURAGE you to share your journey, why you fell in love with classical education, what it is (briefly) and maybe even share about how much CC is going the extra mile to help us out this year with things like this Sandbox.
Seriously, this makes homeschooling so simple for parents—and they don't need to research much other curriculum (just some read aloud books, a phonics program and math).
**The video for each week is pretty amazing too. With all the suggestions for how to memorize new grammar and what chants/motions to do. This really simplifies prep for tutors and now moms don't have to take a video in the classroom to remember how to practice it at home in the week ahead.

Director Introduction
Amy Hart is the Challenge 3 Director Classical Conversations of Columbus
Her family has been part of CC for 10 years.
She and her husband have three children: Jacob, 18, recently graduated from the Challenge program and will be attending Olivet Nazarene University in the fall.
Oliver, 14, will be in Challenge B.
Grace, 12, Will be in Challenge A.
Meet Amy:
I am currently reading Revelations for my devotional. Feeling a little like the end times. I am also catching up on books that have become movies.
My favorite summer activity is gardening. Growing flowers is like art. As I paint a picture each season it brings me such joy.
I am most looking forward to having my youngest in Challenge A. It is a new era of CC for our family as she graduates out of Foundations and I love every level of the program. I can't wait to experience this journey again with my two youngest.
My favorite dessert is hmm so many to choose. I love them all but I especially love summer evenings when we go for ice cream as a family.
I would advise a new CC family to spend time understanding and reading about classical education. Classical education is different but the skills learned are not just the academic education. It is the life skills that make life long independent learners that can accomplish anything they put their mind to. You can reach Amy Hart at [email protected]

What piece of advice would you give to a new CC family: When our family first started with CC, I doubted the usefulness of Latin and all that memorization...Now I understand how well Latin helps kids understand English grammar and prepare them to learn any language easily. I see how memorization facilitates all the later subjects (especially math!) I doubted the IEW writing program, now I see how it doubles as reading comprehension and makes research painless. My advice: Show your kids the joy of learning - learn alongside them, take advantage of the curriculum to the full, and use the incredible network of moms and dads and 20 years of resources to tailor to your children’s specific needs

Director Introduction
Jamie Beth Fairchild will be the Director for Challenge B (8th-9th grade) in Columbus, IN. This will be her family's 8th year in CC. Her husband, Brennan, and she have 5 children - ages 19 to 6, 1 boy and 4 girls.. This year they will have 2 Challenge students, an Essentials and Foundations student, and our youngest will be in Foundations only. Our oldest graduated this past May from Challenge 4.
Get to Know Jamie:
I usually have a few books I am reading concurrently; however, the last book I finished was Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets.
My favorite summer activity is to be outside, whether reading, drinking coffee, or working in our garden. I did just buy a bike and have enjoyed riding with my girls. I am building my endurance :)
This year I am most looking forward to becoming a better mom and homeschool teacher as I direct Challenge B. The materials and support that Classical Conversations provide are a blessing to me personally in my walk with Jesus, my relationships within my family and my skills as a teacher. I am also looking forward to the opportunity to serve in our CC community.
My favorite dessert - too many things! But if I have to pick, just good classic white cake with white icing or ice cream from Zesto's, or no-bake oatmeal cookies or . . .
My advice for a new CC family is to keep it simple. Read your required parent materials, connect with other CC moms if you have questions, and just stick to the basics. Reading your CC materials will encourage you to be present and to trust in the work of the Holy Spirit in your life and the lives of your children. You can reach Jamie at [email protected].
