Last week, STARBASE Columbus turned into a world of medical mysteries, hands-on discoveries, and future healthcare heroes! 🧠❤️

During our four-day Medical Detective Camp, our young investigators explored the human body, solved medical mysteries, completed a sheep brain dissection, stepped into the world of pharmacy, and even designed their own hospitals! 🏥💊

From learning alongside healthcare professional, Krishaun Hendrix, and East Mississippi Community College nursing students to building stethoscopes and exploring medical careers, our campers got a firsthand look at the exciting world of medicine!

A HUGE thank you to our special guests and community partners who helped make this experience unforgettable! 💙

We are so proud of our future doctors, nurses, scientists, and healthcare innovators! The future of medicine is looking BRIGHT! 🌟

🔬✨ Taking STEM Beyond STARBASE! ✨🔬

Our very own STARBASE Columbus instructor, Devin “Spirit,” had the opportunity to visit Mississippi State University and share the excitement of STEM with future educators!

Spirit worked with students enrolled in Teaching Science in an Elementary and Middle Level Classroom, demonstrating engaging STEM activities and showing future teachers creative ways they can incorporate hands-on STEM learning into their own classrooms. 🚀🧪📚

At STARBASE Columbus, we love not only inspiring the students of today, but also helping equip the teachers of tomorrow with ideas that make science exciting, interactive, and memorable!

Way to represent STARBASE Columbus, Spirit! ⭐️

What an incredible first year at STARBASE Academy Columbus! 🚀

In less than one school year, we served 676 students, partnered with 4 schools, hosted 4 STEM camps, supported local science fairs, and inspired the next generation through hands-on STEM learning.

We're so thankful for our schools, community partners, military families, and everyone who supported us along the way. This is only the beginning!

💙 Year One is in the books... Year Two, we're ready for you!

Seeing the excitement, teamwork, creativity, and confidence grow throughout the week made this camp a huge success. We hope our Adventure Builders made great memories and discovered just how fun STEM can be!

🔍🩸 Case Closed! 🩸🔍

We wrapped up an exciting week at our Forensic Analysis Camp! Students stepped into the role of forensic investigators as they explored the science behind solving crimes.

Throughout the camp, students learned how to analyze fingerprints, conducted a blood type investigation lab, and discovered how forensic evidence can help uncover the truth. To put their new skills to the test, campers participated in a culminating case-solving activity where they examined witness statements, tire tracks, fingerprints, and other evidence to identify the suspect.

A special thank you to the Columbus Forensic Lab for visiting our camp and sharing their expertise with our students. Campers enjoyed learning about real-world forensic science careers and seeing how professionals use science and technology to solve cases every day.

We are proud of all of our young investigators for their hard work, teamwork, and attention to detail throughout the week. Great job, detectives! 🕵️‍♀️🔬🧬

Our Forensic Camp is officially underway, and what an amazing first day it was! Students jumped right into the role of forensic investigators by analyzing an art room crime scene, creating Caesar and Thomas Jefferson cipher wheels to learn about cryptography, and exploring chromatography through colorful tie-dye shirt experiments.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Madison S Darnell with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office for helping us kick off the camp. Deputy Madison took time to speak with our students and share his knowledge and experiences in law enforcement, giving them a real-world look at the field of forensic investigation.

Thank you for helping make our first day a success! We are excited for the adventures and discoveries still to come this week.
