I'm Bored.
When I was a child, I learned there was one thing to never say to my mother - “I’m bored.”
Every time I said it, I immediately regretted it. Mom’s response would be, “Oh, you’re bored. Ok, come here; I have something for you to do.” And that something was usually a chore that I didn’t want to do.
That lesson has stuck with me because even as an adult, I hesitate to say, “I’m bored.” It's akin to a cuss word. :)
I will share an unpopular truth with you - it is common for people to feel bored at work. Believe it or not, people get bored. Especially if they engage in rote, mundane, repetitive tasks/activities.
How can we prevent boredom from taking root? Work with our teams to explore and identify ways to “shake it up” and “mix it up” a little bit.
Remember, part of our leadership role is creating an environment that spurs engagement, stirs energy, and counters complacency.
What would you recommend leaders and team members do to prevent boredom from taking root?
I hope this helps.
Be well.

Great opportunity to tour the Center, connect with neighbors and provide your suggestions on how to build a stronger CommUnity. Spread the word, bring a friend, and we'll see you tomorrow!!
We want to hear from you! 🗣
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Nutramax will host the third Cultivating CommUnity event from 6 to 7 p.m. this Thursday, April 20, in the 15th Street Training Center, 916 15th Street, Lancaster.
We hope you will join us, our partners at Lancaster PD and others from various local agencies. The free event will give citizens the opportunity to speak with law enforcement in an open setting about their vision and needs in the community. A tour of the facility will follow. A meal will be provided.
An online survey, powered by the Weathers Group, is also available to the public. To take the survey, scan the QR code or visit https://bit.ly/3zSeiKn. All information compiled during in-person events and through the online survey will be used to create a plan for Lancaster County.
Check our social media pages for more information about more upcoming events.

The Busy Badge
I'm too busy to:
- Check-in on team members
- Develop relationships
- Connect with the clients
- Pay attention to my own needs
- Slow down and think before I act
- Be still and listen to the concerns of the team
- Respond to messages
- Follow-up after the meeting
- Follow through on what I know needs to be done
I'm too busy.
I'm so busy.
I'm busy.
Don't be fooled. I promise you, the things that busyness cause us to push aside, neglect, and deprioritize, are the same things that resurface as more considerable challenges we can't push aside, neglect, or deprioritize.
Stop wearing that

You're recommending someone for a position, where they will supervise others for the first time.
1. What are three things you look for in this person to convince you they're ready for this move?
2. What are three things you're prepared to do to support them in this move?
3. What are three pieces of advice you'll share with this first-time manager?
The next time you're in a position to promote someone, please consider these three questions. If you're the person being promoted, I want you to reframe these questions (see below) and ask the person promoting you.
1. What are three things you see in me that tell you I'm ready for this move?
2. What are three things you plan on doing to support me in this new role?
3. What are three pieces of advice you'd like to share with me?
I hope this helps.
Let's do all we can to set up new and for success, not failure. Three simple questions can provide valuable insights.
Remember, just because a person is good at doing a job, that doesn't mean they'll automatically be good at managing and supervising others doing the job. This requires a different and
